When that brother would finish the art school, he would return the favor, that way both brothers could pursue art careers and become famous artists. However, Albrecht Dürer’s brother got arthritis four years later, so when Albrecht offered to send him to art academy it was already too late. His hands were ruined from hard work in the mine and he couldn’t hold a pen or charcoal anymore, let alone draw or paint. To thank his brother for this generous sacrifice Albrecht drew his “master piece†Praying Hands, originally naming them just Hands. Whether this sad story is true we cannot know, but what we do know is that the art created by Albrecht Dürer is unsurpassable.
